During this time of uncertainty, our focus is to keep you, our staff, and our community safe.
We would like to reassure you that Low Cost Life Insurance continues to be open for business. We are fully capable of helping you with your life insurance planning needs. Because this is a changing situation, we are constantly implementing strategies to mitigate the impact this virus is having on our clients, staff, and the communities we serve.
Based on the business model I started in 1985, our life insurance transactions are conducted by phone, and the necessary paperwork is executed via email. In the past, we have conducted very few face-to-face meetings. As a result, the current challenge of meeting face-to-face will have no impact on our ability to serve your insurance needs.
On the vast majority of our life insurance transactions, a medical examination is part of the underwriting process. Please note that the health care professionals conducting our medical examinations will use the same safety protocol they use today, but they will also add the following safety precautions:
- Our examiners do not collect or transport blood or urine specimens from persons suspected of having or formally diagnosed with COVID-19.
- The appointment scheduling process has now been modified to include the following questions: In the past 14 days, have you exhibited signs of fever or respiratory distress or had contact with someone who has? In the past 14 days, have you traveled to China, South Korea, Iran, Hong Kong, or Italy or had close contact with someone who has? If anyone answers yes to either question, he or she is directed to delay scheduling the appointment for 14 days from diagnosis, contact, or date of travel and then asked to contact my office.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) provides information on COVID-19 at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov. If you have questions about keeping yourself safe from the coronavirus, we encourage you to visit their site.
Our hearts and thoughts go out to the men and women who have been affected by this unprecedented event. We appreciate the healthcare workers, local communities, and governments around the world who are on the front lines working to contain this virus. Thank you for your service!
